My objective for this project was to create a cohesive set of icons for an educational setting, namely a museum, that would correspond to different types of exhibits related to paleontology.
I wanted the icons to help viewers identify what topic group each display belongs to, as well as create a cohesive experience. The boot icon was developed to represent the progression of paleontology through history. The boot symbolizes the forward motion of time and innovation. The fossil icon corresponds to exhibits of actual skeletons. The person using a magnifying glass would mark exhibits about famous paleontologists. The desert landscape icon would identify the displays about dig-sites around the world. The last two, the stegosaurus and the backpack with tools, could be used for dinosaur fact exhibits and informational displays about the process of digging, respectively.
